The programme is open to startups, MSMEs, and growing businesses that are operating in or transitioning towards the circular economy. Applicants should have been in operation for at least six months, employ a minimum of three people (including the owner), maintain basic financial records, and be committed to participating throughout the programme. Youth-led and women-led enterprises are strongly encouraged to apply.
A circular economy business is one that creates value by using resources more efficiently, reducing waste, extending product life, or regenerating natural systems. This includes businesses involved in recycling, repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing, sustainable agriculture, waste-to-value solutions, renewable resources, eco-design, resource recovery, circular manufacturing, water reuse, and other innovative sustainable business models.
Applications are evaluated through a transparent selection process based on eligibility, innovation, business viability, commitment, growth potential, and alignment with circular economy principles. The programme also considers the environmental, social, and economic impact of the business, as well as its potential to create jobs and contribute to Zambia's green economy.
